4.7 Features & Highlights
Real Experience Using Cal AI - Food Calorie Tracker
Application Scenarios
In my quest to lead a healthier lifestyle, the Cal AI - Food Calorie Tracker has become an indispensable companion. I often use it during my meal prep sessions on Sundays. As I chop vegetables and cook proteins, I log each ingredient to keep track of my calorie intake. It’s also a lifesaver during dinners out with friends. Instead of guessing the nutritional values of my favorite dishes, I can quickly search for them on the app, ensuring I remain within my daily limits.
User Experience
The user interface of Cal AI is sleek and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. The home screen provides a clear overview of my daily calorie intake, and adding meals feels effortless. I appreciate the smooth transitions between features, allowing me to easily switch from logging food to viewing my progress. Performance-wise, the app runs flawlessly, with quick loading times and no crashes, which is crucial when I'm in a hurry. Overall, using Cal AI feels like having a personal nutritionist at my fingertips, guiding me with every meal choice.
Pricing
Cal AI offers a free version with basic features, which is great for casual users. However, for those seeking a more comprehensive experience, the premium subscription is available at a reasonable monthly fee. This subscription unlocks advanced features like personalized meal plans and in-depth progress tracking, which I found worth the investment as my commitment to health deepened.
Updates & Support
The developers are diligent with updates, frequently adding new features and expanding the food database. I had a minor issue with syncing my meals across devices, and the support team was incredibly responsive. They resolved my concern within a day, showcasing their commitment to customer service and user satisfaction.
Security & Privacy Review
As an American user, I prioritize security and privacy when using apps, especially those that track personal health information. Cal AI is available on both the App Store and Google Play, giving me confidence in its legitimacy. During registration, I was only required to provide minimal personal data, such as my email address, which is a plus. I appreciate that the app does not bombard me with ads or invasive tracking behaviors. Instead, it focuses on providing a seamless user experience while ensuring that my data remains private and secure. This attention to user privacy is a significant factor in my continued use of the app.

Nice UI and somewhat easy to use. Unfortunately it really struggles to accurately log food. Scanning barcodes yields results that are completely wrong and requires you to manually edit them. Scanning also does not include what the service size of the food is. You also cannot scan a food without adding it to your daily calorie count, so if you only want to add something for later use or something you regularly use, you have to go back again and delete it from your daily log

Not upfront about pricing. They only told me about pricing after I've entered all my info and created an account. Edit: Updating rating after using it during the trial period. The UI is very nice and food pictures look good on it. Unfortunately, calories are always undercounted. 60kcal estimate for 260kcal worth of grapes, meat estimated about 50% less calories than when weighed. I don't expect absolute accuracy, but it isn't very reliable even when all food is laid flat.

app is useful but.... it's very poorly designed. it uses an unbelievable amount of data, it seems to not store *any* data on device at all, instead pulling *everything* from the cloud on every app reload. it used 1gb of data in roughly a week, and is very slow. great concept! very useful! but so poorly written. would happily give 5 stars if fixed.

I've been using this for 2 or 3 months. It's ability to identify food is pretty good and it's info for calories and macros is mostly accurate. It's also easy to correct it. The biggest issue is that it's terrible with portion sizes. It rarely accounts for how much food is there and seems to just count most meals as a single serving, regardless if it's more or less.

It was fine for the first few months, but now it's unbearably slow with no fix or support. Searching for new, non-saved foods these past days does not work. It's unresponsive and takes well over 30 seconds to attempt to find something. I have tried to delete the cache without success. Update form 3 months later: the Cal AI app CANNOT EVEN PROPERLY COUNT the calories or macros. It's off by 30%! Support's reply is to cancel my subscription, which I have already done, but they won't fix anything!
