Features & Highlights
ChargePoint is a leading app for electric vehicle (EV) drivers, offering a suite of features that enhance the charging experience. Here are some standout highlights:
Real Experience Using ChargePoint
Application Scenarios
My daily life revolves around my electric vehicle, and the ChargePoint app has become an essential tool. Whether I'm commuting to work or planning a weekend getaway, the app has consistently aided my charging needs. For instance, during my recent trip to the mountains, I used the app to identify charging stations along the route. The real-time updates allowed me to avoid potential detours and ensure I had enough power to reach my destination without anxiety. Additionally, I often find myself charging while grocery shopping, where ChargePoint's ability to show available chargers nearby makes it incredibly convenient.
User Experience
The user interface of the ChargePoint app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation straightforward. Finding charging stations is as easy as tapping a button, and the map feature provides a visual overview of available options. The workflow from locating a station to starting a charging session is seamless. I’ve experienced minimal lag, and the app performs flawlessly, even during peak times. After using ChargePoint for several months, I feel confident in its reliability and efficiency, enhancing my overall EV experience.
Pricing
ChargePoint operates on a pay-per-use basis, which varies by location and station owner. While some stations offer free charging, others may charge a fee. I appreciate that the app provides clear pricing information before I start charging, allowing me to budget my expenses effectively. Overall, I find the pricing to be fair, especially considering the convenience and accessibility it offers.
Updates & Support
ChargePoint is dedicated to improving user experience through regular updates, which often introduce new features and enhance performance. I've noticed improvements in the app's speed and additional functionalities over time. Their customer support is also commendable; I reached out with a question regarding a charging station, and their response was prompt and informative. Knowing that there's reliable support gives me peace of mind as a user.
Security & Privacy Review
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using apps like ChargePoint. The app is available on trusted platforms like the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of reassurance regarding its legitimacy. During registration, ChargePoint requires basic personal data, such as an email address and payment information, which is standard for most apps. However, I feel comfortable providing this information given their commitment to secure transactions.
ChargePoint does not bombard users with ads, which enhances the overall experience. Furthermore, I appreciate that they are transparent about data tracking, primarily focusing on improving services rather than invasive marketing practices. This approach makes me feel valued as a user, knowing my data is handled responsibly and ethically.

Chargepoint is the charging app outside of Tesla Supercharger. Unfortunately, this is the same thing as being the slimmest kid at the fat camp. Charging works most of the time (about 80% of the time bases on my observations). Sometimes the charging stops for no particular reason. Sometimes the charging power (speed) drops in half, but you still pay the same rate per hour.

Chargepoint is the #1 service to choose if you like being stranded at a charging station with no way to charge. Seriously, what are you thinking with this new app? This service has quickly gone from my favorite, daily, reliable one to avoid at all costs. You guys are starting making EA look good, something I thought was impossible. I've had to update my payment information several times in one day because the app thinks it doesn't have it, even though it shows it correctly in the app.

If there are any station with multiple chargers, it makes you hit the "get notified" for each single station. There used to be a choice to select notifying for one station or all in that garage/facility. Edit 07/01/26: The app doesn't allow for any notifications if a charger becomes available. It got worse than having to select individual stations.

Went from a functional app to vibecoded garbage. Everything takes ages to load now, I'll get randomly signed out, and I can't see live charging stats. The old app used to be very ergonomical, and the map would show precise locations for charging station and its status of whether it was occupied or not. Now I have to zoom in to microscopic detail, which takes forever to do because everything takes forever to load.

Recent updates have made this app much worse in a number of ways. Constantly defaulting to "available" and that category filtering out available stations that are private is annoying, it nags for location way more often, and most recently it keeps logging me out so I don't get notifications. It worked fine for years until these most recent changes.
