Real Experience Using FlightAware Flight Tracker
Application Scenarios
As a frequent flyer, I often find myself in situations where timely information is crucial. One scenario that stands out is when I was heading to the airport to pick up my sister. I had the FlightAware app open on my phone, tracking her flight in real-time. Just as I was about to leave, I received a notification about a delay due to weather conditions. This allowed me to adjust my timing and avoid waiting for her for an extra hour at the airport.
Another instance was during a business trip when I needed to ensure that my flight was on time. I had scheduled important meetings back-to-back, and any delay could have thrown my entire day off. With the app’s flight alert feature, I was notified of a gate change just in time, allowing me to navigate the airport without any hassle. These experiences have illustrated the app's immense value in my daily life.
User Experience
The user interface of the FlightAware app is intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes the experience pleasant even for those who might not be tech-savvy. Upon opening the app, you are greeted with a clean design that immediately directs you to flight tracking options. The search feature is straightforward; simply enter the flight number or route, and you’re presented with all the relevant details within seconds.
Performance-wise, the app is responsive and generally free from lag, which is critical when you need information quickly. Each feature flows seamlessly into the next, whether you are checking flight statuses, setting alerts, or browsing airport information. Overall, my experience with FlightAware has been overwhelmingly positive, and I genuinely appreciate how it has simplified my travel planning.
Pricing
FlightAware offers a free version that includes many essential tracking features, which is perfect for casual users. However, for those who require advanced functionalities, such as more frequent alerts or ad-free usage, a premium subscription is available. The pricing is reasonable and provides good value for those who travel often or need detailed flight information for business purposes.
Updates & Support
FlightAware is committed to enhancing user experience through regular updates. I’ve noticed improvements in speed and additional features over the months, which show the developers are attentive to user feedback. In terms of support, the app provides a comprehensive FAQ section and a responsive customer service team, which I found helpful when I had a query regarding my alerts. This dedication to support reassures me that the app is in good hands.
Security & Privacy Review
When it comes to security and privacy, FlightAware takes significant steps to protect user data, which is crucial for American users. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the security standards of these platforms. Registration is straightforward, requiring minimal personal information, which I appreciate as a user concerned about privacy.
There are no intrusive ads that disrupt the user experience, and I haven’t noticed any excessive tracking behavior, which is a common concern with many apps today. FlightAware respects user privacy while offering an invaluable service, allowing me to enjoy tracking flights without worrying about data misuse. Overall, I feel confident using the app, knowing that my information is secure and my experience is prioritized.

I have been using Flight Aware for a few months to track performance on the flights I will be taking soon. I rely on emails. Two days ago I stopped receiving their emails. My server is not blocking it. I deleted and set up a new account. Still nothing. Their account management page seems to change my notice preferences every time. I am done with them.

It seems to be a great app at first, paid to remove ads. Unfortunately when i was trying to register as new user. I kept getting the same generic error message, saying 'the username name is unavailable'. I have tried multiple options, and still getting the same result. At least tell me what went wrong in error message, so that I can fix it. Very frustrating for app I just paid for. And without login to the app, I can't even use 'flight alert'. Think twice if you're getting this app.

Good for free, some bugs. Two main ones I experienced are 1. In the Android app, if you change an alert to be for only one day, the summary still shows that it is alerting you indefinitely. 2. In the website, you can say how much of a heads-up you need on a flight. The default is 45 minutes, and you can change it, but if you "edit" again in order to see if your change stuck, it still shows 45 minutes.

Barely has information I need - not all information I'd like. Tends to freeze during flight tracking. Rarely do I prefer the desktop version but in this case I do. ----------------- OK, 2 years later ... web version of FlightAware is still a better choice. Quicker, more informative ... and doesn't use system resources when not in use. Not sorry, still barely 2 stars.

App is generally functional; however, when viewing any given aircraft on the map, the position does not continuously update as it does in a web browser. In order to get an updated position, you have to refresh the page, usually multiple times. Also, whenever you select a flight, the map starts zoomed way out so you can see North and South America, instead of showing a more localized view of the aircraft and route.
