4.1 Features & Highlights
Massive Dev Chart Timer is a powerful tool for film photographers and developers, enhancing the traditional development process with a modern twist. Here are some of its standout features:
Real Experience Using Massive Dev Chart Timer
Application Scenarios
As an avid film photographer, I often find myself in a variety of situations where the Massive Dev Chart Timer becomes an essential companion. One of my favorite scenarios is during weekend photo walks. I love capturing the golden hour light, and after I expose a roll, I rush home to develop it. The app allows me to set the timer for developing my negatives while I'm preparing my darkroom, ensuring that every second counts. Similarly, during workshops, when I'm teaching others about film development, I rely on the app to streamline the process and keep everyone on the same page. It’s a fantastic tool for both personal and collaborative projects.
User Experience
The user interface of Massive Dev Chart Timer is intuitive and user-friendly. When I first opened the app, I was greeted by a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. Setting up a new timer is straightforward; I simply select the film type, adjust the settings, and start the countdown. The workflow is seamless, with helpful prompts that guide me through each step of the development process. Performance is stellar; I've never experienced lag or crashes, even while multitasking on my device. Overall, using the app has been a delightful experience, enhancing my film development process without overwhelming me with unnecessary features.
Pricing
Massive Dev Chart Timer offers a free version with essential features, making it accessible for beginners. For those who want to unlock premium features, a one-time purchase provides access to advanced functionalities. I find the pricing reasonable, especially considering how much time and effort it saves during my development sessions. It's an investment that pays off quickly in the quality of my work.
Updates & Support
The developers are committed to continuous improvement, regularly rolling out updates that enhance functionality and fix bugs. I’ve reached out to their support team a couple of times with questions, and they were prompt and helpful in their responses. The community aspect is also notable, as they encourage feedback and suggestions, making users feel valued and heard.
Security & Privacy Review
When it comes to security and privacy, Massive Dev Chart Timer takes the necessary precautions to protect its users. Available on both the App Store and Google Play, the app has been vetted through these official channels, ensuring a level of trustworthiness. Regarding registration, I was pleased to find that the app does not require extensive personal data; all I needed was a simple account setup. There are no intrusive ads, and I haven't noticed any tracking behavior that would compromise my privacy. Overall, I feel secure using Massive Dev Chart Timer, knowing that my information and usage patterns are safeguarded.

Over all, the app is mostly good, generally I don't have any problems, but... I can't add custom times! When I press the plus to add a time, it just opens the list of development times, so nothing can be added. For as much as the app cost, you'd think that that function would work.

Exceptional app for developing film. Pick your film, pick your developer, and go. Great for daylight tanks and developing at the kitchen sink. Tray developers ... darkroom use ... your mileage may vary. Since I only develop roll film in tanks, I don't have the problems darkroom users have. Read the reviews to see if this is the app for you.

I love the idea, and have been using this for years. However if you use a lot of developers and films, this will quickly become useless. The 'my times' pane shows each film/dev in its own row. If you routinely use 5 films and 5 developers, and perhaps want to keep times for 3 different temperature levels, you're left with scrolling through a massive list of 75 rows to go and find your desired dev plan. It would be good instead to be able to collapse all this data in nested lists, e.g. by film.

Generally a really useful app with only a couple of inconsistencies (too small to call bugs). If you're thinking of buying it be aware that it's database has not been updated since 2022. It doesn't contain details of any new films that have been released or incorporate any corrections to errors in, for example, development times.

The first impression is very good.. But after using it for a while now I miss a few things: - Default setting for the film type (I would like to default to 120) - A way to calculate quantities for mixing fixed and stopbath without having to make a dummy recipe and misuse the developer - An option to copy a recipe to the clipboard or paste it into the app - and a little more involved, but a time for the ilford way of washing the film after development (fill water, agitate 3x, wait a minute, refill water, agitate 6x, wait a minute etc. till 24x) It saves a lot of water but I don't see it possible with the current editor.
