4.3 Features & Highlights
If you're a BMW or MINI owner, the BimmerLink app is an essential tool that enhances your driving experience. Its user-friendly interface and powerful features make it a must-have for anyone looking to get the most out of their vehicle. Here are some of the standout features that I found particularly useful:
Real Experience Using BimmerLink for BMW and MINI
Application Scenarios
As a proud owner of a BMW, I've integrated BimmerLink into my daily routine in various ways. One of the first things I did after downloading the app was to check for any existing issues in my car. I had just purchased the vehicle and wanted to ensure everything was in perfect working order. The ability to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes gave me peace of mind, knowing I could troubleshoot any problems right from my phone.
On another occasion, during a long weekend getaway, I used the live data monitoring feature to keep an eye on my fuel consumption. This feature not only helped me optimize my driving but also made the journey more engaging, as I was able to see real-time data on my dashboard. I even had a friendly competition with my partner to see who could achieve better fuel efficiency!
User Experience
The user interface of BimmerLink is intuitive and well-designed, making it easy to navigate through the various features. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that allows quick access to diagnostics, live data, and vehicle settings. The workflow is smooth; for example, accessing the diagnostic trouble codes only takes a few taps, which is a huge plus when you’re in a hurry to fix an issue.
Performance-wise, the app is responsive and rarely experiences lags, even when monitoring live data. I particularly appreciate how seamlessly it connects to my vehicle via Bluetooth, allowing for real-time updates without any hassle. Overall, using BimmerLink has enhanced my driving experience, making me feel more in control and aware of my vehicle's performance.
Pricing
BimmerLink is available for a one-time purchase, which I found to be quite reasonable given the extensive features it offers. Although there are free alternatives available, the depth and reliability of BimmerLink justify its cost. Plus, considering the money saved by diagnosing issues myself, it’s an investment that pays off quickly.
Updates & Support
The developers of BimmerLink are proactive about updates, frequently releasing new versions that enhance performance and introduce new features. I’ve noticed that they respond quickly to user feedback, which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction. Additionally, their support team has been responsive whenever I had questions regarding app functionalities, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Security & Privacy Review
When it comes to security and privacy, BimmerLink takes significant measures to protect its users. The app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring a level of credibility and security associated with official app stores. During the registration process, I was only asked for the necessary personal information, which was reassuring. I appreciate that they don’t require excessive personal data that could compromise my privacy.
Moreover, I was pleased to find that BimmerLink does not contain intrusive ads or engage in tracking behavior that many other apps do. This is particularly important to me as an American user who values privacy. Overall, I feel confident using BimmerLink, knowing that my data is secure and that the app respects my privacy while providing its valuable services.

I paid for the Android Auto add on. it initially worked, but then hasn't for months now. I emailed awhile back stating their method of calculating boost pressure was inactive or buggy at best, if you disconnect your MAP sensor and plug it back in while connected, it'll read an extra 14 PSI high. For a paid app, this is entirely unacceptable.

Android Auto add in is glitchy and doesn't allow you to scroll through sensors. It seems to refresh the data every second which stops you from scrolling down. Basically if you have more than 4 items on your dashboard, you won't get to see them. Pretty lame considering your paying an extra $10 for the add in on top of the cost of the app. Although Bimmerlink gives you access to a ton of different "sensors" most of them don't display any data depending on your vehicle. Car Scanner is a better app

The clearing codes thing is kind of cool, but I got this app mostly for data logging. The data logging on this app seems kind of useless because it only logs at certain intervals, and those intervals are too far apart to be of any use. It can completely miss pulls that are 0-70mph+. If there was a way to set the interval of how often it captures data instead of once every like 10-15 seconds, that would be awesome. Not sure if that's an app limitation or OBD2 limitation.

Bought this and BimmerCode full versions to register a battery which worked well enough. Weird that it takes both apps to get this done (select new size in one, register in the other.) I'd give 4 stars for that but beyond that it's unhelpful. I purchased a different app (Protool) available on play store so that I can see more realtime data and perform default coding on new modules. I suspect I won't use these two BimmerLink/BimmerCode apps anymore since that one is much more robust.

The app works good until you need to export your log file. For $50 you get a painfully difficult experience of exporting files. If it actually worked right I could email the file to myself and download it then do with it whatever I please. Instead of having that convenience you press send and nothing happens. The only way I can make it work is if I send the email while sitting in front of a computer with my email up and the same time so I can watch it go through. It's so counterintuitive.
