3.7 Features & Highlights
Real Experience Using GOHUNT / Hunt Research & Maps
Application Scenarios
As someone who cherishes the great outdoors, I find myself using the GOHUNT app in various scenarios. One of my favorite activities is planning my annual hunting trip in the mountains. A few months prior, I utilize the Hunt Planner feature to assess potential locations based on animal migration and weather patterns. When the time comes, I rely on the interactive maps to navigate the terrain and identify the best spots to set up camp and wait for game.
Additionally, when I’m out in the field, I often use the species profiles to remind myself of the behaviors of different game animals. For instance, knowing that elk are more active during certain times of the day helps me strategize my hunting schedule. The community insights feature connects me with other hunters, allowing me to gather tips about what’s working in the area.
User Experience
The user interface of GOHUNT is intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes my hunting experiences smoother. The moment I opened the app, I was greeted by a clean layout that showcased all the essential features. The maps load quickly, and panning across different terrains is seamless, even in remote areas where cell service may be spotty.
During my hunts, I appreciate how the app allows me to track my location and mark waypoints to revisit later. Adding notes about specific locations has also been a breeze, and I find myself referring back to them on subsequent trips. Overall, the performance has exceeded my expectations; it’s a reliable tool that complements my hunting gear.
Pricing
The GOHUNT app offers a subscription model, which I found to be quite reasonable considering the wealth of features it provides. The price points are competitive, especially when compared to other outdoor apps that offer less functionality. Investing in a yearly subscription has proven to be worthwhile for my hunting endeavors, ensuring I have access to updated maps and features throughout the year.
Updates & Support
GOHUNT regularly rolls out updates that enhance the app’s performance and introduce new features. I’ve noticed improvements in map accuracy and additional functionalities that make my hunting trips more enjoyable. The customer support team is responsive and helpful, making it easy to resolve any issues I’ve encountered. The support forums are also a fantastic resource for troubleshooting or learning how to maximize the app’s potential.
Security & Privacy Review
As a user concerned about security and privacy, I appreciate that GOHUNT is available on both the App Store and Google Play. Downloading the app from official sources gives me peace of mind regarding its authenticity. When registering, I noticed that the app only requires basic personal information, which is a plus for users wary of oversharing their data.
Importantly, GOHUNT does not bombard users with intrusive ads, which is refreshing in today’s app landscape. The app does collect some data for performance tracking, but this is standard practice. I feel comfortable using GOHUNT without fearing that my hunting locations or personal information will be exploited. Overall, the app strikes a good balance between functionality and user privacy.

way too expensive. I've been using this for about 5 years. it use to be reasonable and worth it. it is now way too expensive for what you get. the mapping is sub par from Onx. the insider info is all public data. sure its nice to have it packaged and the descriptions of units. if you just want 1st timers becoming familiar with an area, fine. but if you want loyal customers, you need to come back to reasonable pricing. poor business model.

Had high hopes as I was referred to this app. Paid for the full package, and after using it for a few months, I've become less than impressed. Topo lines are not detailed enough, I can't measure area only distance, landowner names aren't updated, and aerial imagery is only for one year. Im used to google Earth, our States GIS ortho and beacon, so maybe I am spoiled, but these are free compared to this subscription.

Pretty disappointed. Hunting partner and I both used OnX but wanted to give the competition a try for a lower price. Offline maps quality always looked good in service, but once out, it degraded severely. The most disappointing feature was that statelite location was never accurate. My location was always a ways off, sometimes almost a mile. It was very concerning and problematic. OnX Hunt was always spot on with the same device, in the same areas. I'm willing to pay the difference in cost now.

Limited bird/upland game info. Could see utility for big game hunters, and would consider it if more species were added (for example has sage grouse maps for Colorado, but doesn't even list Dusky Grouse). Lacking a lot of layers that are available on other similar apps. Not bad, but not worth the annual subscription for me.

I have a lot of issues with this app. I have lost some of my saved data and it doesn't update real time. I need to continue to close it and bring it back up. Didn't work while I was out on my hunt and thankfully I had some backup maps. Go hunt, you have a lot of work to do on this app before I will use it for my Backcountry use. Not reliable. ********Latest update - all it took to resolve my issue was updating to the latest version of the app and all is working flawlessly now. Thanks Bransen!
